Access Database Performance – With and Without SQL Server

Philipp Stiefel

IMPORTANT: This presentation is at 10:30 AM Mountain Time

Query performance is a critical aspect of most database applications. Nevertheless, performance problems are often only addressed as an afterthought to application development when it is more difficult and labor-intensive to fix those issues.

Philipp will present fundamental aspects of database performance and will discuss some simple performance tuning rules that are basically applicable everywhere. These rules already have a huge effect with plain Microsoft Access applications. The effect will be magnified when applied to Access applications with SQL Server backends linked via ODBC.

Philipp is working as an independent consultant with Microsoft Access, SQL Server, VB.Net for many small businesses from many different industry sectors. He also writes about these technologies at his website codekabinett.com and publishes videos on the codekabinett YouTube channel.
